Health & Safety Considerations

Please follow these steps prior to going abroad:

  1. Have doctor and dentist appointments prior to departure; discuss relevant issues with health professionals (if necessary obtain a Confirmation of Good Health).

  1. Obtain any necessary vaccinations (if necessary obtain a Confirmation of Vaccination).

  1. If you require prescription medications while abroad, pack enough for your trip in original containers in your carry-on luggage, and bring a doctor’s note (you will very likely need to verify this requirement).
  1. Arrange for medical needs, ongoing or potential (diabetes, epilepsy, allergies, etc.) and ensure availability of medical care.
  1. Ensure that health coverage follows you abroad;  Visit International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers to find out how to receive treatment (what documentation to present for treatment; retain for reimbursement in U.S.; what documentation to bring for Proof of Insurance).
  1. Obtain a copy of your medical records.
  1. Prepare an emergency medical kit (if necessary).
