ILENE YOUNG, ESQ., is the principal and founding lawyer of the Law Office of Ilene Young. The firm’s practice focuses on representation of families with special needs in legal matters, including education, civil rights, veteran’s disability appeals, and special needs issues in family law. Ms. Young has represented parents in all areas of school law, from administrative due process proceedings to disciplinary hearings, to federal court, with a concentration in special education litigation. She has also represented the interests of individuals and families with special needs in civil, domestic, and children and youth matters. She has written and spoken on issues of education law and special needs issues in family law in professional legal education seminars and other forums, both locally and nationwide. Ms. Young is also one of the few private attorneys admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals for Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C., representing veterans of the Gulf and Iraq wars with disabilities. Ms. Young is a professional member of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association’s Exceptional Children’s Committee, the Pennsylvania State Children’s Behavioral Health Task Force, TASH, COPAA, and the Bucks County Bar Association, and an elected member of the executive board of the Bucks County Democratic Committee. She received her J.D. degree, with honors, from Temple University, with three bests, the Barrister’s Award for Trial Advocacy, and the American Jurisprudence Award.
