REBECCA K. SPAR, ESQ., joined Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard in 1988 after serving as Law Secretary to the Hon. David Landau of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division and is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department. A frequent lecturer and author of articles for professional publications, Ms. Spar has represented parents and children in several precedent setting educational cases involving, among other issues, students’ rights to damages and compensatory education. These cases include W.B. v. Matula, 67 F.3d 484-494 (3d Cir. 1995); Ridgewood Board of Education v. M.E., 172 F.3d 238 (3d Cir. 1999) and M.C. v. Central Regional School District, 81 F.3d 389 (3d Cir. 1996), cert. denied, 136 L.Ed. 2d 116 (1996). Ms. Spar is the former chairperson of the Children’s Rights Committee and the School Law Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Tourettes Syndrome Association Board and a board member of the Education Law Center.
