KAY LIPSITZ is the Director of the Parent Education Network. Kay is a parent of an adult with disabilities and grandparent of young children with disabilities. In the past, she was also a foster parent for children with disabilities. Since l989, Kay has assumed the position of School-Age Coordinator for Parent Education Network, a Parent Training and Information Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, providing training, resources, consultation, and technical assistance. She serves on the State Advisory Panel for Special Education, mandated by IDEA. In 2007 was selected and appointed to serve as a member of the Governor's Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities. She has for the last twenty years and currently participates on the Board of Directors for the Learning Disability Association of Pennsylvania. April 2008 Kay was appointed to the position of Director of Parent Education Network.
(Parent Education Network (PEN) Parent Training and Information Center Mandated by IDEA serves parents in the eastern regions of Pennsylvania. PEN provides technical assiatance to parents, publishes and disseminates materials explaining State and Federal Laws, as well as disability specific materials. PEN also conducts workshops to promote awareness of the special role that parents play as equal partners with educators and providors and the importance in working collaborately.) |
