JOANNE CASHMAN, Ed.D. is currently the Director of the IDEA Partnership an OSEP investment sponsored by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education. She received her master’s in education from Temple University and her doctorate in special education policy from George Washington University. Joanne came to NASDSE after working 27 years as a local director of programs for special education, drop out prevention, and alternative education as well as a building principal. As the Director of the IDEA Partnership, Dr. Cashman is committed to bringing the lessons of local practice together with federal and state investments in policy and research. To accomplish this, The IDEA Partnership is pioneering the Community of Practice approach to solving persistent problems of implementation
