A Pathway to Service |
February 1, 2012 |
Editor's Note
Service comes in many different forms and the definition may vary from person to person. Whether you are volunteering at Abbe Hall or Victory house,
one type of service is not necessarily better than the other because each meets a different community need. We try to offer programs that are
meaningful and it is important to recognize that every person can do their part in making our community a better place to live and learn. Take
advantage of opportunities to help others and sign up for some of our programs!
As always, feel free to e-mail us at inserve@lehigh.edu if you have any questions, or
would like to get involved!

Upcoming Volunteer opportunities for youParents Night OutThe Community Service Office is excited to announce the first PNO of the semester on February 10th! There will be tons of fun and games, as always! PNO brings local kids from low income families to campus for a night of free food, fun, games, and great role models - that's YOU! The event runs from 5:15pm until around 9:15pm, and it's important that all volunteers stay for the entire time. The kids are already pumped to come on to campus and hang out, so you should be, too! Email Karen at inserve@lehigh.edu for more information or to sign up! Feel Good FridayEach Friday the Community Service Office takes a group of volunteers to an on or off campus site for a service event. Potential events include going to Abbe Hall to work with senior citizens or to Volunteers of America where volunteers spend their time with kids in the Lehigh Valley. Trips generally last from 3-5pm, and the next trips will take place on 2/3 and 2/17. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and brighten someone elses day. To sign up now e-mail inserve@lehigh.edu with the subject: Feel Good Friday Victory HouseWe have a number of trips to Victory House Men’s Shelter this semester. Donegan Elementary School Looking for Volunteers
Interested in getting involved with children, doing community service, and gaining teaching experience? Due to a complete loss of funding for after school
programming, Donegan Elementary School is looking for volunteers to run and assist with after school programs. Volunteers can be individuals, groups, clubs,
or organizations. Your task would be to plan and implement an after school program on a weekly basis. Programs can be based on volunteers' skills and interests.
We are seeking a wide array of programs to provide enrichment and life experiences for the elementary school students!
