Hunger & Homlessness Awareness T-Shirts

Over 90% of kids in South Bethlehem are on free & reduced school lunches. With the national poverty rate over 14%, hunger and homelessness are real issues in not only our nation, but in our community. You have the power to change the social tragedies happening in your backyard.

The Community Service Office is selling long sleeve T-shirts to support Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which will be held from Oct. 17 to Oct. 21. For $10, you can make a difference. Proceeds from the shirt sales will go to organizations that help with hunger and homelessness issues in our community. Remember to wear your shirt on Thursday, October 20!

Lehigh for Japan Campaign

Student wearing Lehigh for Japan shirt

In light of the recent events in Japan, the global community has been called to action to help with the disaster relief effort. As a campus, we can do our part by helping raise money to help Japan recover and rebuild. The Community Service Office has created t-shirts specifically made to raise awareness and money to donate to the relief effort. Please stop by the Community Service Office in Ulrich to purchase a shirt or order one online, and look for us tabling and keep an eye out for emails.

Message From the Director

Community voice is essential if we are to build bridges, make positive social change, and solve problems. Any initiative should make sure that the voice and the needs of the community are included and in the forefront.

This is the mantra of the energetic, passionate staff and dedicated volunteers that make the Community Service Office.

For many years, I have had the honor of working in the CSO, inspired on a daily basis by the selfless efforts of our amazing student staff and volunteers. Even more touching and uplifting are the agencies and people we serve, whose struggles in turn humble and move us into action.

I wish I could tell each and every one’s story. The Community Service Office and its programs touch the lives of countless people in South Bethlehem and beyond. Take some time to explore our website, read our newsletters and annual reports, and just imagine the stories.

Please take a few minutes to be inspired by the difference being made. Then consider how much more there is to do and your role in getting it done. The community voice is speaking to all of us loud and clear – now join us in action.

Yours in Service,
Carolina A. Hernandez
