Project
REACH is a National Center, funded by the Office of Special Education
Programs for 5 years, to work with students with intensive social, emotional,
and behavioral needs. The project is a collaborative effort between Lehigh
University and the University of California, Riverside. The central themes
of the project are intervention-based assessment, ecologically and culturally
responsive practices, and collaboration across systems of care. During
the first year of the project, we conducted literature searches to identify
best practices and promising practices that are consistent with our central
themes. Throughout Years 2-5, we are conducting a longitudinal analysis
with 125 students. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the long-term
effectiveness of intervention consistent with best practice. In addition,
we are evaluating the role of risk and protective factors on student outcomes.
