Voice Mail QUICK REFERENCE

The following directions should help to give you quick access to many of the features you may reference often. All instructions assume that you are at the MAIN MENU of your PERSONAL mailbox unless otherwise specified.

Press * at any time cancel a function.

Checking Messages from your phone:
For the STE-SD (Analog Speaker/Display Phone)
When flashing, PRESS the red button on the bottom of your telephone or pick up your handset and PRESS * 5 and
Enter your password
PRESS 1 to hear messages
For the ITE12-SD (12-button Speaker/Display Phone)
and the ITE30-SD (30-button Speaker/Display Phone)
When flashing, PRESS the VMAIL button on your phone or pick up your handset and PRESS * 5 and
Enter your password.
PRESS 1 to hear messages

Checking Messages away from your phone:
DIAL 86666 (on-campus) or
610-758-6666 (off-campus).
(You will hear the system prompt, "Hello, you have reached Lehigh University's voice mail system...")
PRESS the # key
ENTER your mailbox number
ENTER your password
PRESS 1 to hear messages

Message Review Options
While listening to messages, you can
Skip a message:
PRESS the # key
Fast -Forward through a message:
PRESS 3
Increase message volume:
PRESS 9
Make message speed faster/slower:
PRESS 6-faster/PRESS 4-slower
Rewind a message:
PRESS 1

Check the Date and Time of a Message (Envelope Information)
While listening to a message
PRESS 5 (If the message was sent from another voice mail user's mailbox, this will also inform you who sent the message. If the message was sent from someone outside of Lehigh, this will also give you the telephone number of the calling party. Please Note: If the calling party has their information blocked from Caller ID, through their telephone carrier, their telephone number will not be available to you.)

Forward a Message
After listening to a message
PRESS 6 (or 6-6 to remove other introductions)
Record your introduction
PRESS # then Enter recipient's mailbox number
PRESS # to send

Save a Message
After listening to a message
PRESS 9 (messages will be saved for 14 days)

Reply to a Message
After listening to a message
PRESS 8 (NOTE: This feature works ONLY if the
sender of the message has voice mail on their extension)

Erase a Message
After listening to a message
PRESS 7 (NOTE: Deleted messages CANNOT be retrieved)

Send a New Message
PRESS 2
RECORD Message
PRESS # to finish recording
ENTER recipient's mailbox number
PRESS # to send

 

 

 

 

Voice Mail QUICK REFERENCE

 

Change your Mailbox Greetings
To change the greeting which plays if the phone is not answered:
PRESS 4-3-1-2-1
To change the greeting which plays if the line is busy:
PRESS 4-3-1-2-2
If only the no answer greeting is recorded, it will be played on both occasions. Also, changing one greeting doesn't affect the other.
To record an Extended Absence Greeting (useful when away for an extended period of time)
PRESS 4-3-2

Change your Mailbox Recorded Name
PRESS 4-3-3

Change your Personal Mailbox Password
PRESS 4-2-1-1

Group Distribution Lists
(To send a voice mail message to a group of voice mail subscribers)
To create a list:
PRESS 4-2-2 (from the main menu)
PRESS 1
ASSIGN a two-digit number, 11-20, to the list you want to create.
RECORD the name for the list
ENTER the mailbox number of each person you want on the list
NOTE: For extensions with two or more mailboxes, the individual mailbox number must be entered, i.e., 1XXXX, 2XXXX, etc.
To send message
PRESS 2 at the main menu of your mailbox
RECORD your message
PRESS # to finish recording
ENTER distribution list number (11-20) that you had assigned when creating the list
PRESS # to send message

Security Options
To Activate:
PRESS 4-6-1
NOTE: When this feature is on, you will be prompted to record your name and time of day each time you access your voice mailbox.
To Deactivate:
PRESS 4-6-2

Turning on Message Date and Time Playback
PRESS 4-2-4-1

Turning off Message Date and Time Playback
PRESS 4-2-4-2

Changing Prompt Levels
PRESS 4-2-1-3
Choose prompt level:
1 - Standard (new users)
2 - Extended (experienced users)
3 - Rapid (expert users)

Transferring calls to Voice Mail
To transfer a caller to someone’s voice mail:
Follow directions for transferring calls, depending on the phone you have
STE-SD (Analog Speaker/Display Phone)
ITE12-SD (12-button Speaker/Display Phone)
ITE30-SD (30-button Speaker/Display Phone)
DIAL 86666
DIAL person’s extension (8XXXX-fac/staff and 4XXXX-students) XXXX represents the last 4-digits of the telephone extension
