Professor Notis graduated with B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Lehigh University. He was a Product Engineer with A.T.T.-Western Electric Co. in Allentown,PA from 1960 to 1969, where he participated in the manufacture of the first commercial intergrated circuits. He joined the Materials Science and Engineering Department in 1969. He has had sabbatical leaves to perform research at Imperial College in London, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and most recently at Oxford University. He has written over 250 publications and edited a book. His interests are related to the study of phase equilibria and mass transport in multicomponent systems, and in archaeometallurgy.
