The Zinc Institute was founded in 1919, chartered in New York state and maintained an office in New York City. Its stated purpose was; 1. to obtain, analyze and disseminate information and advice as to the uses and characteristaics of zinc and zinc products; 2. to support and conduct studies and research to uses and posssible uses of zinc and zinc products; 3. to obtain, analyze and disseminate statistical information relating to production, marketing and use of zinc and zinc products; and 4. to do all things necessary and incidental to the foregoing purposes. Because of declining member- ships, perceived changes of needs, and reduced income the Board of Directors voted to close the New York office, and reduce staff at a meeting in May 1987. (no further information is available in the material) The following material was received from the Zinc Institute in 1991. It includes minutes of meetings, budget material, membership lists, reports of Annual Meetings, runs of "The Journal", the "Zinc Sheet" newsletter, many articles, reprints etc., but NO correspondence.
