EXHIBITIONS FALL 2009

The Limited Editions Club: A Pairing of Art and Literature
August 12 - December 19, 2009
Linderman Library, Ground and First Floors
Painters Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, whose works are primarily displayed in art museums, also illustrated fine books. Featuring works of art on paper by these and other artists, this exhibition will include classics from antiquity, children’s favorites, and fine literature produced by The Limited Editions Club, the private press founded by visionary George Macy in 1929. The Lehigh University Libraries acquired this important collection thanks to the generosity of alumnus David Green ’22 and his wife Jeannette, early subscribers to the press.

John James Audubon's Birds of America, Vol. I

Linderman Library, First Floor

John James Audubon's Birds of America, Vol. IV
On-going
Zoellner Arts Center, Lower Art Gallery
An unusual 19th century work that is part of Lehigh's rare book collection, this work demonstrates how Audubon's hybrid of science and art, ornithology and printmaking, makes him one of the world's most celebrated scientific naturalists.
