MyLibrary, a Curricular Resource

What is MyLibrary at Lehigh?

MyLibrary is a library portal and tab in the Campus Portal.  MyLibrary's organization is based on disciplines taught at Lehigh. MyLibrary resources include the Libraries' electronic resources, including e-journals, research databases, historical newspapers, etc. and links to services.  MyLibrary default views are based on that individual student's major.    While each discipline's resources are automatically associated with a discipline area, our subject librarians are responsible for what appears on the default view for that discipline.

The goal is to present a core collection to students in their field of study and to provide customization options for each user as well.  MyLibrary encourages use of high quality sources and is an essential component in the University-wide information literacy intiative.  Because it is integrated with the Campus Portal, it is located on the digital university's "campus green," along with other important student services including Banner and Blackboard.

MyLibrary has the following areas with discipline-specific content in each.  Those areas in blue may be edited by the user by selecting additional resources from the MyLibrary database.  The green bookmarks area is completely personal.

MyLibrary is fully accessible from on and off campus. The "proxying" necessary for off-campus access to library subscriptions is operating in the background; this means the on and off campus connection buttons seen on the library services site do not appear in MyLibrary.

More about MyLibrary

MyLibrary is produced by harvesting electronic journal, electronic reference books and evaluated web site data from ASA, Lehigh's Library Catalog and the Database Finder.  MyLibrary "knows" the student's major (drawn from Banner, the student information system) and matches the student to the discipline page for his or her major.
