Using Lehigh's Proxy Server

Many of Lehigh's vendors only allow connections from Lehigh computer addresses (i.e., they are "IP-restricted"), so we've set up an EZproxy Server for Lehigh students, faculty, and staff.  By using the Proxy Server, if you click the off-campus link for a journal or database, it will seem to these services that you are actually part of Lehigh's network, regardless of where you're working. No setup is required on your computer!

Allof our databases and ejournals are restricted to Lehigh users, which is why you are asked to enter your AFS/Network Server ID (Lehigh User Account) and password to access the systems.

Most services also require "cookies" to facilitate session continuity.  The default setup of most browsers has cookies enabled; if you experience connectivity difficulties, you may wish to check the settings and/or modify them.  Your computer's operating system normally does not affect the proxy server, but you may want to check any security settings at the operating system level if you experience difficulties.

Privacy notification: In order to ensure that our proxy server is only being used by valid Lehigh accounts, we need to keep logs of proxy server use. Proxy logs are only used to ensure system security.

At one time, the proxy involved configuring your web browser to use the proxy. This is no longer required. And if you had previously set up your web browser to use the old proxy server, you need to turn this off: instructions are here: http://www.lehigh.edu/library/guides/proxyremoval/noproxy.html
