Welcome

Lehigh University is pleased to offer alumni a variety of library services. During your years at Lehigh, you enjoyed an extensive library collection of books, journals, and electronic resources. Lehigh continues to offer Alumni some services, including online access to a large number of full-text journals.

Online Access to Journal Articles

Through the Alumni Portal, you will have access to the ProQuest Research Library Database (which indexes, abstracts and provides selective full-text for a broad spectrum of magazines, journals and newspapers) and the ProQuest Business Databases (premier business and management databases providing extensive coverage of North America and the world, including business and industry news). Using the link from the Alumni Library channel, you can connect to the database, search for topics and print off articles directly.

Lehigh History and our Digital Library

Through Special Collections, alumni also have access to a wealth of Lehigh history. Special Collections offers such services as assistance with Lehigh history, yearbooks, and holdings of rare books and manuscripts. Some of these services can be provided via phone, e-mail, or through their electronic offerings.

Some of the special projects available online through Lehigh University's Digital Library include Digital Bridges, History on Trial, The Vault at Pfaff's, and Lehigh Valley Geology.

Library and Technology Services' latest project is to digitize the complete run of the Brown and White. Check back for project updates. The current issue of Brown and White is available online.

General Library Services

By giving at least $50 you can qualify for a library borrowing card by joining Friends of the Library. This groups helps support Lehigh's libraries in many ways. Friends may borrow books from the general collection for a period of 28 days.

Any visitor to Lehigh may use many of the library services. Visitors can browse the collection, do research, access some online resources, and make photocopies. Visitors can stop by the Help Desk for general assistance, such as information about services available, answers to general questions about the facilities and collections, and assistance in locating specific items. It is recommended visitors contact the Help Desk (610-758-4357) first to insure the services or library items are available. Library Hours are posted online.

Lehigh University also provides a subscription based Corporate Information Service.

Support your Local Libraries, too!

And don't forget to check out and support your local libraries! Most libraries allow access to their collections and also provide interlibrary loan services to allow you to borrow material they may not have themselves. Many states also offer access to online full-text journal and magazine articles through statewide library programs. Stop in your local public library to learn more about what is available to you. Check out LIBWEB to see if your local library has a website.
