Graduate Assistant
Aubrey DeCarlo is a fourth year graduate student in Lehigh's Counseling Psychology PhD Program. She was the president of the LGBTQIA Graduate Student group in 2009-2010, spent a year drowning in coursework, and has returned this year as the Graduate Assistant in LGBTQIA Services and the Rainbow Room. Aubrey's primary research interests include LGBTQIA and other social-justice related issues, and she hopes to eventually steal her boss Timothy's job (a similar position at another university would be acceptable, too). In the very little free time she has, Aubrey enjoys cooking and rock climbing

Goals: Looking forward to not only becoming a part of but also increasing the presence of the LGBTQIA community on the Lehigh campus. Want to create a stronger presence of the community so LGBQIA students feel that they have a sense of support and unity.
Why Rainbow Room?: I belonged to the GSA at my high school and really liked the sense of community and openness that the organization gave off. I wanted to become part of Lehigh’s Rainbow Room because I felt that moving away to a foreign place with thousands of people I don’t know, it was important that I became part of a community that I knew would accept me for who I was. I also wanted to become part of the effort to make other members of the LGBTQIA community here at Lehigh feel like there was a place on campus for them to feel a home.
