Waypoint, an online assessment tool, integrated in Blackboard.[read more]

Audacity: a free, open-source software package used for recording and editing digital audio, was employed in Summer 2005 by Ed Gallagher (English) in "Virtual Americana: Studying American Culture Online" and by Greg Reihman (Philosophy) in "The Examined Life" to bring their voices and their students' voices into their online courses in a novel way.  Students were able to listen to recorded introductions to course material as well as instructor feedback on students' written work.  Audacity is both easy-to-use and powerful; in fact, one of Gallagher's students broke her arm mid-way through the course and used Audacity to submit her discussion board postings and paper assignments as digital recordings.
