Internships
are required and arranged for all majors. Not many journalism programs
can offer such experience.
Internships have been undertaken at top local and national media and public relations agencies, including NBC News; Saturday Night Live; MTV, Men's Health, Prevention and other magazines of the Rodale Press; PBS television stations; Newsday and other sites. Internships are usually taken in the summer before senior year or during senior year so that students have a wealth of coursework to draw upon while working at the internship site. You can find more information about internships below, or contact Professor Ken Friedman, Internship Supervisor, at kaf3@lehigh.edu or 610-758-4176.
Research on academic and professional subjects occurs in most courses. Students learn a variety of research skills valuable in many disciplines. Such opportunities normally are also available through the Honors Thesis, College Scholar Project or Special Topic classes. Contact Professor Jack Lule
at jack.lule@lehigh.edu or 610-758-4177.
Study abroad is an increasingly important component of an undergraduate education. With a strong international emphasis, the department has links to numerous study-abroad programs in Europe, South America and Australia. Students most often study abroad in spring of their junior year.
