Pedestrian Protection
This project involves the development of active safety system provisions on the front end of a Cadillac SRX, GM’S luxury crossover vehicle. This active system will allow for Cadillac to maintain its body style without compromising their cutting edge design. The system must meet the European and Japanese regulations regarding protection of pedestrians during impacts as well as maintain Cadillac's current standards for frontal impacts with cars. The ability of this system to perform must be verified using finite element analysis. The goal is to accomplish this without adding significant cost to the production of the vehicle.
