Intramedullary Canal Locator
The Stryker Corporation is one of the world’s largest medical device companies and a worldwide leader in the orthopaedic market. The project is to develop a device to aid orthopaedic surgeons in accurate pin insertion through the intramedullary canal of human long bones during the placement of external fixation (EF) devices. By designing an apparatus to locate the center of this canal and guide the surgeon’s instrument through it, proper installation of an EF device can be assured nearly 100% of the time.
