Sound Attenuation Levels
This project focuses on developing a method for attenuating sound levels in GMA’s latest newspaper assembly machine. Key goals include reducing noise to below both American and European standards, ensuring durability, and minimizing cost. GMA will be the sole market for this product, as it is intended to be incorporated into the design of their assembly system. Assumptions that have been taken to guide the development process include ensuring that the method is easily incorporated into the current design, involves static devices and is focused on dampening and isolating vibration. The stakeholders include shop employees who work with the system, printing companies and GMA.

"This team worked both as a team and individually with different departments and people within the company to gather information and knowledge of the project. The IPD team is working in parallel with the company's R&D department to modify this prototype machine which has shortened the time from idea to reality."
