As the name implies, the FSL Value Portfolio aims to invest in value positions. Funded in 2005, the Value Portfolio is viewed as a stepping stone towards the Dreyfus Portfolio. The portfolio adheres to tighter compliance measures, using tools such as screens and ratio analysis to ensure that all positions are value oriented. The Value portfolio group typically consists of sophomores and juniors with a strong understanding of the financial markets who desire to learn more about portfolio management.
An invitation only portfolio, students who seek to become members of the Value Portfolio are students who stand out within the Rights Portfolio. Students may receive course credit for their involvement, and subsequently a certain degree of work is associated with the portfolio. As members of the group, students are expected to attend every meeting, follow a specific sector, and research potential investments.
Recruitment for the Value Portfolio occurs in the middle of the spring semester for students to join the portfolio in the fall.
