Using the Kurzweil 3000 Highlight feature
This feature allows you to highlight text in different colors. The colors can be used as indicators for indenting. To use this feature it is helpful to first display the study skills toolbar. To show the toolbar...
1. Click Tools on Menu Bar.
2. Click Options in menu.
3. Click General tab.
4. In Study Skills box, click down arrow, then click Large (Caption) to display toolbar.
5. Click Apply or OK. In the main Kurzweil screen, a study skills toolbar will appear. 
HIGHLIGHT TEXT:
Click a Highlighter button on Study Skills Toolbar (Yellow, Green, Cyan or Magenta).
- The mouse pointer becomes highlight pen.Click and drag pen to highlight desired text.
- If you plan to use highlighting to indent text, decide which colors you want to use for indenting.
- To change colors, click another highlighter button
- To stop, click Highlighter button again
INDENT HIGHLIGHTED TEXT:
- Click Tools on menu bar
- Click Options in menu
- Click Highlighters section.
- Click on Extract Setup and type the indent value for any
color you plan to use. You can also do this when you save your highlighted text.
- Click OK.
TO READ HIGHLIGHTED TEXT:
- Click the text unit box (e.g., Sentence, Paragraph, etc.)
- Click Highlight
- Click Read
TO ERASE HIGHLIGHTING:
- Click Erase on Study Skills Toolbar
- Click and drag pen over highlighted text to erase highlighting
TO EXTRACT HIGHLIGHTED TEXT:
- Click File on Menu Bar.
- Highlight Extract Annotations in menu.
- Check the highlights to extract and set margins if desired. This creates a new document that contains highlighted text.
TO SAVE EXTRACTED TEXT:
Under file, go to the Save As dialog box:
- Type your file name.
- Click Save as type box and select MS Word.
- Click Save.
TO PRINT EXTRACTED TEXT:
1. Click Print on Toolbar
2. Click Highlighted Text, then click OK
