CREATE AN OUTLINE OF A DOCUMENT
Open the document you want to outline.
Go through the document and use the highlights tools (shown below) to highligh the text you want to appear in your outline. If you want to structure your outline, use a different highlighter color for different kinds of information (for example, yellow for main ideas, green for supporting details, and red circle for important dates).
Go to File, select Extract Annotations, and select Highlights.
If you have used highlight colors to structure your document, assign indents and prefixes to each highlight color. Prefixes can identify the meaning of highlights you use. For example, if you use the magenta highlighter for main ideas, you can type MAIN IDEA under prefix. Indicate the desired indent depth.
Click OK to extract the highlighted text to a new text document. The new document displays the text using the formatting you specified.
