Health News

April/May 2012

April and May can be times of high stress for students, as the semester comes to an end. Good health can actually impact your GPA! Here are some suggestions for protecting your health in times of stress:

  • Get adequate sleep. Sleep is probably the first thing to be sacrificed when students have heavy academic loads.
  • Try to maintain your exercise regimen, but don’t beat yourself up if you miss workouts due to needing extra study time. Aerobic exercise is especially helpful for clearing your head and helping to concentrate.
  • Try your best to eat nutritiously. Your body needs energy in the form of health carbohydrates and protein to maximize your study time.
  • Schedule some down time, even if it’s just 10 minutes to listen to music or sit quietly. Take advantage of the massage chairs in the Wellness Center right off the waiting room of the Health Center.

Good luck on final exams, papers, and projects, and best wishes for a happy and healthy summer! Congratulations to our graduates!

The Health and Wellness Center is located on the 3rd floor of Johnson Hall, just south of the University Center (U.C.) and north of McClintic-Marshall (M&M) residence halls.
