University Policy

*Colleges' Protocol Regarding Class Attendance On Adverse Weather Days*

_Adopted by CAS, CBE, and RCEAS_

On those occasions where the University remains open during adverse weather conditions faculty, staff, and graduate students who feel they cannot safely travel to campus, or who depend on transportation services that have ceased operation (both university and local bus service), or who may be delayed in arriving due to road conditions, should notify their departments.

In the event that a faculty member or graduate student responsible for instruction can not reach campus, it will be up to the individual faculty member responsible for the course to make a decision regarding cancellation of individual classes. The faculty member should notify the department office and also make his/her best effort to notify students either by email and/or by requesting someone on campus in the department to post a note on classrooms. The ability to access voice mail and class email lists via Blackboard should help with the notification process.

In the event that faculty or departments require assistance, they should call the College Dean's Office.

_*Adopted by College of Education*

The Provost issues decisions on whether or not the university will remain open during inclement weather. On the rare occasions, the university does remain open in less than favorable weather, yet the buses do not run some students may not be able to attend class. Under these conditions, students are to be excused from class that day and given extensions for assignments and exams if necessary.

The most up-to-date information on bus stoppages can be heard by calling 610-758-1700. After 4:30 pm, the transportation services website is not updated until the next day.
