The Graduate Student Life portal group is the graduate student cyber community. News and announcements are posted there, and the message board provides a useful place for topical discussions and job listings just for graduate students. To get to the graduate student life portal group, "login" using your Lehigh user ID and password, select the "groups icon" in the upper right hand corner (it looks like the outline of a few people's heads and shoulders), select the "groups index," select "social," select "Graduate Student Life group", and say "yes" when you are asked if you want to join. Once you are in the group, select the message board listed on the left column.

Graduate students secure off-campus funding through grant applications made in consultation with their advisors. In late August, just as classes begin and in anticipation of the many November deadlines, the Office of Graduate Student Life sponsors an annual seminar that covers the grant seeking process. Notes from that session, Tips on how to win a fellowship, scholarship, or grant, are in a binder at the Graduate Student Center, along with grant announcements. For other information on government agencies and foundation fellowships/scholarships, students must identify the funding sources.

• Lehigh University Career Services assists graduate students in all phases of the career development process. Counselors are available to provide career counseling and skill development including resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and job searching. By request, counselors can schedule special appointments at times to meet the needs of busy graduate students. Workshops are scheduled throughout the semester, and can be tailored to student groups by request. Resume drop-off and mock interviews are also available. In addition, an alumni database provides means to gain career, company, and industry information through networking opportunities.
