Nominations Needed for 2009 Academic Symposium
The Academic Symposium Organizing Committee is seeking nominees for the 2009 Academic Symposium: A Tradition of Excellence. This Symposium, scheduled for April 16, 2009, is intended to celebrate
research and scholarship at Lehigh University. Following the
successful Academic Symposium held in 2007, our goal is to feature
internationally renowned scholars who can connect with an audience of considerable diversity. You can learn more about the 2007 Symposium and plans for the 2009 Symposium by clicking here www.lehigh.edu/symposium.

We intend to associate this symposium with speakers of high standards. Nominees should be distinguished scholars. We anticipate inviting speakers who are members of the National Academies, MacArthur Fellows, Pulitzer Prize-winners, Nobel Laureates or scholars of comparable achievement.

We are particularly interested in inviting intellectuals who are engaging orators. We ask that special consideration be given to speakers whose work spans more than one discipline and who would therefore capture the interest of a broad audience. Of importance is the nominee’s ability to interact seamlessly with undergraduates and more experienced learners.

All nominees are kept confidential. Not all those nominated are recommended or approved. There are often reasons why a recommended nominee cannot accept our invitation. Please complete the nomination form located on the website http://nominations.lehigh.edu/symposium/.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 20, 2008.
If you have any questions, please email symposium@lehigh.edu or call (610) 758-2211.
