About
the Government Information Collection
The
Library of Lehigh University was designated a selective depository
for U.S. government publications in 1876. It is the oldest depository
in the state of Pennsylvania and the largest depository in the
Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton Metropolitan Area. The library also
serves as a depository for Pennsylvania government publications
and is committed to making this federal and state information
available to the general public while also serving the curricular
and research needs of the University.

The
collection is comprised of materials published by a full range
of U.S. and Pennsylvania government agencies and also contains
a related collection of commercially published materials that
facilitate their use. There are over 185,330 print, 451,689 microfiche
publications and over 1,964 CD-ROMS in the Government Documents
Collection.
The
library selects approximately 53% of the government publications
made available to depository libraries. The Department also supports
access to Federal Electronic information sources and houses a
workstation for use of government supplied CD/ROM databases and
access to the many government information sources available on
the Internet.
