Fulbrighters Visit to Comparative and International Education Program
Drs. Saparova and Jorayeva applied for and were awarded a grant to visit Lehigh University as part of the Fulbright Occasional Visiting Lecturer Program, managed by the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars in Washington, DC. While at Lehigh, they presented an informal lecture to Lehigh students, faculty and staff about the life of a Fulbrighter and also gave a formal presentation about Globalization in Education as it related to Distance Education and At-Risk Youth in their respective countries.
The Fulbrighters met with the Dean and Associate Dean of the College of Education, as well as with the Office of International Programs. Their visit was capped off by a guided tour of Lehigh Valley Academy, where they learned the unique role and function of a charter school in the United States. The concept was new to them, and they were fascinated by how the school is managed and how it serves a diverse population of students, while still providing a high-quality education.
