Adopt A Family was started by athletics where each athletic team "adopted" a family and bought them holiday gifts, but has expanded to include fraternities and sororities, as well as administrative offices. Families in need are identified through Donegan Elementary School and matched with a Lehigh office or organization that provides them with gifts for the holidays. On a designated day, all gifts are taken to Donegan Elementary to present the gifts, where the family members open one or two items and then share a meal in the school gymnasium. This amazing program connects Lehigh to the community and demonstrates the true meaning of the holiday season.
If departments are interested please contact David Joseph at dmj0@lehigh.edu by late July. Offices and departments have combined together in the past to make sure there are enough people chipping in to cover the family well.
The Faculty/Staff Day of Caring was held on September 22, 2011.
All projects are filled on a first come, first served basis.
If you need additional information about Lehigh's Faculty/Staff Day of
