Lehigh INE to host Smart Grid Event

Professor Sibel Pamukcu of civil and environmental engineering will give a keynote address at the 2014 Geo-Congress hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers. This year's event, February 23-25 in Atlanta, will focus on issues related to geocharacterization and modeling for sustainability.

A recognized research leader in this area, Dr. Pamukcu conducts research on electrochemical processing of soil and groundwater, and on the application of fiber-optic and wireless sensors for distributed measurements in geo-environment and civil infrastructure. She currently focuses on the application of direct current electric field for enhanced recovery of oil, and for in-situ destruction of contaminants through enhanced redox in clay-rich soils and rock formations.
