Lehigh ChBE professor part of a team to receive DOE EFRC grant

Professor Israel Wachs, the Whitney Snyder Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh, is part of a team lead by Georgia Tech (including Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Washington University St. Louis, University of Alabama, University of Florida, University of Wisconsin and Lehigh University) that recently received a highly competitive Center grant from the Department of Energy (DOE).

The proposal entitled "Center for Understanding and Control of Acid Gas-induced Evolution of Materials for Energy (UNCAGE-ME)" will establish a multi-institutional center under the "Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRC)" program of the DOE. The focus of the center will be develop fundamental understanding of acid gas interactions with sorbent, catalyst, and membrane materials to enable rational design of acid gas-tolerant materials with improved catalytic and separations properties.
