The 2014 Fazlur R. Khan Distinguished Lecture Series Speakers kicks off this month, covering an expansive range of topics that will include the transformation of building design to withstand earthquakes, achieving the "impossible dreams" of building design and the rebirth of an industry through new technologies and innovation.
James R. Harris, founding member of J.R. Harris & Company, will kick off the lecture series this Friday, February 21, 2014 with his presentation, "The Evolution of Building Design to Resist Earthquakes."
On Friday, March 21, 2014, Jon B. Magnusson, Senior Principal at Magnusson Klemencic Associates, will present the lecture "Structure Becoming Architecture: Case Studies of Aesthetics, Form, and Efficiency."
All presentations will be held at Lehigh University's Sinclair Lab Auditorium.
The FRK Distinguished Lecture Series is co-sponsored by the Departments of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Art, Architecture & Design. The event is held in honor of Dr. Fazlur Rahman Khan and his legacy of excellence in structural engineering and architecture.
The FRK Lecture Series was initiated and organized by Dan M. Frangopol, the first holder of Lehigh's Fazlur Rahman Khan Endowed Chair of Structural Engineering and Architecture.
