Lehigh alumna Katharine "KT" Brickman '06 has been named to the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Award from the Manufacturing Institute.
The STEP awards recognize women who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their careers. Brickman is the second woman from Custom Processing Services, Inc. to be honored with this award. The awards are a part of the STEP Ahead initiative that promotes the role of women in the manufacturing industry.
Brickman graduated from Lehigh with a bachelor's of science degree in materials science engineering. After graduation, she began working as a Technical Sales Engineer at Custom Process Services. In her role with Custom Processing Services, KT is responsible for new product testing and development, and she helps determine optimum processing techniques for a wide range of chemicals, minerals, waxes and other materials.
"KT took our small company and helped us more than triple our revenue," says Gregory J. Shemanski, President, CEO and Founder of Custom Processing Services. "KT has a unique ability to understand the customers' needs and turn them into a methodology to process their materials to the desired size, shape, color, density, etc., while making it commercially viable."
Brickman was also a part of the management team that was awarded the 2013 Governor's Impact Awards in the "Small Business Impact Award" category.
