Robert Malchione ’79 was appointed to the Board of Directors of Bio-Rad Laboratories, a manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostics products. He will stand for election to the board at the company’s annual meeting on April 22, 2014.
Malchione graduated from Lehigh in 1979 with a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering. He then received his master of business administration from Harvard University’s School of Business Administration in 1983.
After earning his degrees, he worked for two years as a manufacturing engineer and program manager at Texas Instruments in Dallas. He later joined the international strategy consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group, in Chicago, where he was a partner, vice president and director, working to develop and implement key corporate and business strategies. He remained at the firm for 16 years.
In 2000, he began working at the Avery Dennison Corporation where he served as senior vice president corporate strategy and technology until 2011.
Currently, Malchione is on the board of directors and a member of the executive committee for Innovate Pasadena, a company that strives to create an ecosystem of technology and design that supports sustainable economic growth in the greater Pasadena area.
Malchione is also an advisor to a startup company that develops system engineering tools for manufacturing companies.
