Glenna Stone, ’97 IE, is an accomplished interior designer, running her own design firm.
But it didn’t start out that way.
After graduating from Lehigh University and taking a position as a consultant and project manager in the consumer products industry, the industrial engineering alum moved onto PriceWaterhouseCoopers, coordinating national promotion campaigns, including dental product powerhouse Oral B and Gillette.
Looking to channel her creative side, Stone enrolled in interior design courses in 2005 at the Boston Architectural College and the Rhode Island School of Design. She later graduated from Drexel University, taking the best of both worlds -- the technical and creative -- earning her master’s degree in interior architecture and design.
Five years later, Stone went into business for herself, launching Glenna Stone Interior Architecture + Design. Her company specializes in residential and commercial projects, guiding her clients through the entire process from start to finish.
"My engineering education from Lehigh taught me to marry the technical with the creative, and the creative with the practical," Stone explained. "I am always looking at projects as a way to solve a problem in a way that is not only aesthetically pleasing, and meets the client's vision, but in a way that is functional. A design that looks great but doesn't function well is not a success."
Stone’s work spans the Mid-Atlantic and New England region, including clients from Philadelphia, New York and New England and has steadily grown over the last three years.
