Professor Ochs is founder and director of Lehigh's award-winning Technical Entrepreneurship (TE) program, and serves as director of the innovative professional master's program (M. Eng) in Technical Entrepreneurship. He is also an associate of the University's Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation.
Along with playing an active and leading role in the University's successful entrepreneurial programs, he specializes in new product development processes, geometric dimensions and tolerances, and acoustics and noise control. He has served as CAD/CAM and new product development consultant to more than 300 companies, and has helped guide the launch of many successful firms as a consultant and as director of IPD.
For his efforts in entrepreneurial program development, Ochs has been recognized with the American Society For Engineering Education (ASEE) curriculum innovation award, the Newcomen Society award for the promotion of America's free-enterprise system, and the Olympus Prize for Innovation in Teaching in 2006. He serves as expert witness on noise and vibration and CAD/CAM patent infringements.
He has served as chair and board member of the ASEE Entrepreneurship Division, chairman of the Unigraphics Users Group, founder and board member for LVCS, Inc., and on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing.
