James Femister's primary interest in the computer science field has always been the design and implementation of compilers and computer languages, code optimization in particular. Other interests are: software engineering (especially web application development), artificial intelligence, and the theory of computation.
Femister was a Lehigh student for many years, culminating in a Ph.D. in 1997. He has taught computer science at Lehigh, Lafayette, DeSales, Kutztown, and Alvernia. Femister has also worked for many years as a software engineer, consultant, and trainer for companies in New York City, North Jersey and the Philadelphia suburbs.
