Vincent Pagano Jr. is the newest member of the board of directors for Manhattan-based L-3 Communications, one of the leading aerospace and defense contract companies in the country and world.
L-3 is a top contractor "in Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C³ISR) systems, platform and logistic solutions, and national security solutions," serving customers that include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Justice.
Vincent Pagano was the head of the Capital Markets Practice Group at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, which included the firm's Public Company Advisory Practice Group. He also served on the firm's Executive Committee. He represented both corporate clients and underwriters in public and private sales of capital securities, including in initial public offerings, acquisition finance, the issuance of high-yield debt securities and the sale of new financial products.
During his 32 years with Simpson, Thatcher and Bartlett, Pagano regularly advised corporate clients on disclosure, financing, corporate governance and other general matters and is active in the firm's Public Company Advisory Practice generally. He also advised corporate clients on merger and acquisition transactions. He was active in a wide variety of industries, including the public utilities and energy, financial services, homebuilding and health care industries. He joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in 1981, was named as a partner in 1986 and retired from the firm at the end of 2012.
Pagano is recognized among the leading capital markets lawyers in the United States and the world by several publications, including The Legal Media Guide to the World's Leading Capital Markets Lawyers, Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business, The Legal 500 US and Who's Who in American Law. Pagano serves on the board of directors of the Legal Aid Society and a number of other community and charitable boards. From 1979 to 1981, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Ward of the Southern District of New York.
Pagano earned his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1979. He received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, summa cum laude, from Lehigh University and has advanced degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and Rutgers University.
