In today's world, talented and successful engineers take on challenges that don’t fit neatly into traditional categories. Bioengineers, materials scientists, and chemical and systems engineers work with economists and sociologists to solve health crises the world over. Electrical and civil engineers team up to harvest electricity from rivers and tides, and invent the future of energy distribution via smart grid technologies. Computer scientists are giving wheelchair users new forms of mobility, and partnering with systems engineers to innovate Internet-based technologies for a host of applications, from big data to mobile health and healthcare systems. Skills from mechanical engineering and finance are coming together to rid the world’s oceans of its "plastic soup," one skateboard at a time.
The P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science is redefining engineering education through the integration of experiential learning, independent research, and creative teaching. We challenge the brightest young minds in the world to see the whole picture – technologies and solutions that interact with a global community of people, organizations, and industries. Tomorrow’s engineers need the breadth of perspective, and depth of skill, to meet the challenges that lie ahead of them.
Lehigh engineering students work in an academically rigorous, dynamic environment where the exploration of fields such as cultural studies, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and music is an integral part of their education. We look at what drives the young individuals who arrive at our doors, seek out their unique perspectives, and learn what sparks their intellectual passion and curiosity. We set them on a path that fulfills the needs and interests of the whole student. They work closely with some of the nation's top faculty and researchers who share a passionate commitment to teaching, mentoring, and doing groundbreaking work.
This holistic approach is the hallmark of a Lehigh Engineering education; and it’s a mindset that’s weaved throughout everything we do. We are intensely proud that our graduates enter the next phase in their lives, whether it be the workforce or graduate school, ready to lead with their heads and their hearts.
We encourage you to learn about our unique cross-disciplinary approach and programs by exploring our website as well as our student-led social media channels for an inside look at the lives and times of Lehigh Engineers. Or, better yet, visit our beautiful campus and check out our state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, talk with our faculty and students, and see for yourself how we're redefining engineering education for the 21st century.
