John M. Kulicki currently serves as President, CEO and Chief Engineer of Modjeski and Masters Management, an engineering consulting firm based in Harrisburg, PA. Kulicki earned both his Masters degree and Ph.D. in civil engineering from Lehigh University in 1967 and 1973, respectively. He has over 35 years of experience in virtually all aspects of bridge analysis and design as well as in bridge-related research and education of design professionals.
Kulicki's Bridge designs have won numerous awards, including the American Society of Civil Engineers' Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement awards and the American Institute of Steel Construction's (AISC's) Prize Bridge awards. He has authored more than 80 technical papers and presentations, and he has contributed to two engineering handbooks, The Steel Designer's Handbook and The Bridge Engineering Handbook.
In 2005 Kulicki was honored with the Roy W. Crum award, in recognition of his outstanding achievement in the field of transportation research. Other awards include the Bridge Design Award from the Bridge Engineering Association in 2005, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from AISC in 2002. He was named Engineer of the Year by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers in 2002 and by the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Week Council in 2000. In 2006 he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Kulicki currently resides in Mechanicsburg, PA with his wife, Harriet. They have one daughter, Jennifer.
