Students engaged in the Teaching, Learning, and Technology academic programs have the opportunity to work with faculty who are actively engaged in educational research and the development of innovative instructional programs and technologies. Students are involved in a variety of scholarly projects in areas such as: learner motivation and engagement, teacher professional development, technology integration in the schools, and the design and development of instructional technologies.
Students and faculty regularly publish in the field’s leading journals and also present their research findings at national and international conferences.

Broughal NASA Explorer School/Lehigh University Partnership
http://www.ei.lehigh.edu/nes/
Technology-enabled middle school curricular projects developed in partnership a to transform the school curriculum at Broughal Middle School toward a science and technology signature school. Project supported by the NASA Explorer Schools program.
The Clipper Project
http://clipper.lehigh.edu/
The Clipper Project was a multi-year research and development initiative. The goal of the project was to investigate the costs and benefits of offering Web-based university courses to high school seniors. The Clipper Project enabled a better understanding of the perceived benefits of participation in Web-based introductory courses.
Earth System Science Education at Lehigh University
http://www.ei.lehigh.edu/esse/
Earth System Science Education (ESSE) at Lehigh University is a Web site designed to promote ESSE for entry level college students and advanced high school students. This site contains instructional modules (How does the carbon cycle work?, Remote sensing, Pennsylvania sprawl and Melting glaciers) , laboratories, and tools designed to promote inquiry-based learning. The materials emphasize data analysis skills and understanding real-world applications. The modules can be used alone or with companion lecture, laboratory, or field components. Project funded by NASA Earth System Science Education in the 21st Century initiative.
LEO EnviroSci Inquiry
http://www.leo.lehigh.edu/envirosci/
The LEO EnviroSci Inquiry Web site is a K-12 outreach project thaty enables teachers, students, and the public to learn about environmental science content knowledge from Lehigh University LEO scientists and interns. Learning activities actively engage participants in data collection, analyzing data, working with Global Information Systems (GIS) databases, and engaging in science-specific pedagogical practices that incorporate Web-based and other technologies to be implemented into the science classrooms. Curricular activities emphasize student-directed scientific discovery of their local environment aligned to the National Science Education Standards, the National Geography Standards and the National Educational Technology Standards. Initial project support from the Keck Foundation.
