"Typically, treatment for children and adolescents with ADHD and related behavior disorders has focused on reducing their symptoms and disruptive classroom behavior.  It is equally important to directly address their academic and peer relationship difficulties, because many times when academic and social functioning is improved, behavior control also improves.  Further, this allows us to focus on building strengths rather than just reducing deficits."

Inclusion for Preschoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorder:A Literature Review.

Abstract:
The prevalence of bullying in America's schools has been continuously increasing, creating a hostile school environment for more children every day. Research has examined characteristics that both bullies and victims possess in order to identify at-risk individuals. Among children who are victimized, research has shown that children with special education needs have become targets more frequently than children without special education needs. Evaluation of the literature revealed that research seeks to create solutions by defining bullying, establishing prevalence, and, in line with the purpose of this review, determining the key players with a particular focus on children with special education needs as victims.
