A COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE ON SIGNALING AND STUDENTS: THE INCENTIVES STUDENTS FACE AND THEIR EFFECTS
Under a human capital framework, an increase in educational investment leads to an increase in aggregate levels of human capital. This model assumes that the market will always reward increased productivity. However, there are market failures caused by lack of perfect information. The research represented on this poster uses a signaling framework is also used to explain low student achievement and different educational practices in The United States and East Asia, specifically Japan and Korea.
