Monthly Updates

January - February 2008 Central Dauphin School District January and February were busy months for our three MP3 schools.  DIBELS benchmark testing was conducted shortly after we returned from winter break.  All students were assessed at grade level and results were used in combination with other sources of data (4Sight scores, theme tests, classroom performance) to make decisions regarding student progress and instructional changes.  These decisions were made at Lawnton and Rutherford with the help of our MP3 staff.  After compiling all relevant data, the Lehigh team met with the data teams at each school and walked them through the process of data review for every student in the school.  The data teams at both schools worked very hard to make good data-based decisions for their students.  Everyone was excited to see the progress that the students had made.  It was encouraging to see the number of students that improved from the fall, with many students moving from a more intensive to less intensive tier! At Phillips, we took the last steps toward independence for the data team.  The data managers at the school, Connie, Janet, and Pat, worked independent of the Lehigh staff to complete the re-grouping process for 3rd-5th grade.  They were responsible for gathering and organizing the data, reviewing student progress, and re-grouping all students.  While Alex was available for support, the Phillips team did it own their own, great job team! New skills groups were started at the beginning of February and all teachers are continuing to progress monitor students.  As we move toward Spring we are working hard at each of the schools to maintain the level of progress we have seen until the end of the year.  Check back next month for further updates.
