Central
Dauphin School District
Project
MP3 is moving
quickly to collect the initial baseline data. Project staff visited
key personnel -- reading specialist, principal, instructional
support teacher, and school psychologists -- at each of the three
participating schools. These visits helped us gain a better understanding
about current school resources, special education eligibility
procedures, existing use of progress monitor data, and reading
interventions for struggling students.
Nate,
Karen, and I provided
teachers at each of the participating sites with a brief overview
presentation of the
MP3 Project,
Response
to Intervention Framework., skill
grouping, and progress monitoring. Administrators from Central
Dauphin School District attended
each of the presentations to express their support for the project.
Although the response to the project was generally positive, some
teachers expressed concern about how much of their time would
be needed, what types of interventions would be used, how Tier
2 and 3 services fit into their current schedule, and how special
education students participate in the general education core.
These and other questions will be addressed in future professional
development activities and meetings with the school personnel.
Stop back in next month for the next update,
