Special Education Law Symposium
Balancing Change and Continuity
June 21 - June 26, 2009

OVERVIEW

Illustrative features of this year's symposium:

  • Interact with a faculty of expert presenters, which include school district and parent perspectives.
  • Keep up to date on the latest and significant cases under the IDEA.
  • Explore basic concepts if you are a special or regular teacher, parent, or board member interested in gaining an introductory overview.
  • Sharpen your skills with advanced topics if you are an experienced psychologist, administrator, or attorney expected to have up-to-date and in-depth knowledge.
  • Earn graduate credits or take the symposium for continuing education units. Single day options are also available.
  • Take home a comprehensive course manual with the latest legislation, regulations, and detailed case law outlines.
  • The symposium begins with a dinner and keynote presentation by Barbara J. Ebenstein, Esq.

REGISTRATION

When: The symposium will be held Sunday evening, June 21, through Friday afternoon, June 26, 2009.

Where: The symposium will take place on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. The campus is located approximately 8 miles from the Lehigh Valley International Airport, 65 miles from Philadelphia International Airport, and 75 miles from Newark International Airport in New Jersey.

Registration Deadline and Refund Policy: Monday, June 1st, 2009 is the registration deadline (exceptions may be made in special circumstances). Cancellations after June 1st are subject to a $25.00 fee and no refunds will be issued after June 12th.

Tuition and Fees:
Enrollment is limited, and advance registration is required. Payment is due by June 12, 2009. Fees for all credit, non-credit, and/or professional development INCLUDE dinner on the 21st and lunch on the 26th. All checks are to be made payable to Lehigh University.

  • Non-credit/Continuing Professional credit: A non-credit or continuing professional credit option is available for $975, which includes the text/binder. A per-day option is available for $295.00. Non-credit participants should print and fill out the registration form and return it with full payment to Tamara Palmer, Lehigh University, 111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, Pa 18015.
  • Credit: Tuition for the 3-credit graduate course is $1,575. Payment is due by June 12th and is made directly to the Bursar’s office at Lehigh University.  The text/binder for the course is NOT included in the tuition and costs $95.00. This must be purchased separately, by sending a check or money order to Tamara Palmer (see contact information for address).

    Individuals seeking credit who are not enrolled at Lehigh must apply for non-degree status; fill out this application for non-degree status and mail it to Donna Johnson, Lehigh University, College of Education, 111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, PA. You will not be required to pay the $65.00 application fee.

CLE Credit: CLE Credit is available.
ACT 48:
ACT 48 credit hours are available.
ACT 45: ACT 45 credit hours not available.

Exam:
For students who are taking the symposium for academic credit, the exam will be on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 (4-7 or 7-10 p.m.) with a makeup opportunity on Monday, July 13, 2009.
