The College is made up of one Department of Education and Human Services comprising the following 6 academic program areas:

RESEARCH TO PRACTICE

Lehigh's College of Education recognizes that the key to adressing the significant issues facing pre K-12 education and human service delivery is a commitment to quality research that is disseminated to students and practicing professionals through innovative teaching. Listed below you will find just a few of the many research and dissemination projects in which our TLT and SPED faculty are currently engaged:

RESEARCH SUPPORT AND CENTERS

As can be gathered from the projects listed above, Lehigh's College of Education is an incredibly collaborative environment in which faculty across all six academic areas work together regularly on research projects and scholarship.

In addition, Lehigh directly supports faculty research in a number of ways through the College's newly created Research Program Development Office, it's CPRP and CDUEL centers, and the University's Office of Research and Graduate Studies. In addition, faculty are eligible each semester for internally funded research "seed money" through the Faculty Research Grants and Faculty Innovation Grants programs. CURRICULAR INNOVATIONS

The TLT and Special Education faculty have recently collaborated on the redesign of our curricula to address the new Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) guidelines for teacher certification.

The overarching philosophy for our proposed plan is guided by the Response to Intervention (RTI) model, which views general education and special education not as separate or distinct programs, but rather as a continuum that begins with good instruction based on evidence-based practices, then introduces more intensive interventions as required for individual students.
