Professionals wishing to qualify for five Act 48 hours in conjunction with Lehigh’s College of Education’s Learning Disorders: Interventions That Work lecture may do so by completing the following activities which meet the of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) requirements for qualifying high quality professional development. We have designed the activities to help professionals extend what they learn at the lecture, explore its effectiveness with students and reflect on how the tested intervention might be modified or improved in future. The goal is to help professionals enhance their understanding of Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII). Please view the Guide for Act 48 Hours doument that we have created for you.
In order to qualify for these five Act 48 hours, professionals must complete five highly related activities:
- Attend the entire Feb. 7, 2012 lecture presentation, provide sign-in information and submit a completed post-presentation evaluation form distributed at the lecture.
- Examine at least three resources from a supplied list of 15 resources that focus on Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII). This list includes both text and multimedia resources.
- Implement a short RTII intervention with one or more students in your instructional or other professional setting.
- Complete the Professionals’ Report for Act 48 Hours.
- Submitthis report as an attachment to an email to Albert Mussad at albert.mussad@lehigh.edu no later than Friday, April 13, 2012.
Your report will be evaluated by qualified professionals in the College of Education who will assign a rating of either:
Approved --or-- Requires Additional Information.
Professionals whose reports receive a rating of Approved will be notified that Lehigh will award five Act 48 hours. Professionals whose reports receive a rating of Requires Additional Information will be notified of that fact and given an opportunity to revise and resubmit their reports within two weeks of such notification.
